‘Begum’ editor Nurjahan Begum shifted to ICU
04 November 2015,Nirapad News: Nurjahan Begum, the editor of ‘Begum’, has been shifted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Square Hospital in city on Wednesday afternoon.
After complains with breathing problem and stomach pain, the pioneer in women’s journalism in the country has been hospitalized this morning.
Journalist Mahmuda Chowdhury, one of her close family friends, confirmed the matter.
Emergency department sources said after conducting some necessary tests, she has been shifted to ISU under supervision of Dr A Zaman.
Flora Nasrin Khan, daughter of Nujahan Begum, and other family members urged all concerned to ensure better treatment of the veteran journalist.
Nurjahan Begum was born on June 4, 1925, as Nurun Nahar. She is the daughter of renowned journalist and monthly ‘Sawgat’ editor Mohammad Nasiruddin.
Nurjahan Begum, editor of ‘Begum’ magazine, began her career in 1940s. She has been discharging her duty as editor of ‘Begum’ for six decades.
