BGB seizes smuggling goods, drugs worth Taka 48.55 crore in January
03 February 2015, Nirapad News: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized smuggling goods and drugs to the tune of around Taka 48 crore 55 lakh 79 thousand from the bordering areas and other places of the country in separate operations in January.
Among the seized drugs, there are 2,29619 pieces of “Yaba” tablet, over 20 thousand bottles of phensedyl, 1142 kilogram of weed, 25507 bottles of foreign liquor, 15,440 pieces of different sex-pill, 1743 pieces of intoxication injections and 26,80648 pieces of other illegal tablets, according to a BGB press release received here today.
Besides, other seized smuggling goods are 10,416 pieces of “saree”, 7439 numbers of three-piece and shirt-piece, 23,284 meter of cloth, 5055 pieces of readymade dress, 11,957 CFT wood, one touchstone and 1.3 kilogram of gold.
BGB members also recovered four pistols, 2 rifles and seven round of ammunition.
Some 241 Bangladeshis were arrested on charge of illegal border crossing, 220 Myanmar nationals were prevented from intruding into Bangladesh in the last month.
