Biren Shikder for integrating women with development
03 October 2015, Nirapad News: State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder today said women should be integrated with the development process more and more for the economic wellbeing of the country as they constitute half the country’s population.
The state minister was speaking as chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the ‘Economic Sustainability of Grassroots Women Entrepreneurs’ at the local Zela School auditorium here this morning.
Presided over by AGWEB President Mousumi Islam, the function was also attended by Jessore Deputy Commissioner Dr. Humayun Kabir, Bangladesh Bank Khulna Zone General Manager Prokash Chanda Bhadra and Team Leader Dr. Ali Baset. Association of Grassroots Women Entrepreneurs Bangladesh (AGWEB) organized the function.
Referring to the contributions of the garment industry to the national economy, Biren Sikder said most of the garment workers are women and they have kept the wheel of the economy moving.
He said the country can immensely prosper if the skill and merit of the women are properly used.
Grassroots women entrepreneurs of the district took part in the function.
