Blockade steps into 69th day
15 March 2015, Nirapad News: The BNP-led 20-party alliance’s indefinite transport blockade entered 69th day on Sunday. The 20-party alliance has been enforcing the nationwide blockade since January 6 to realize their various demands including a fresh national elections under a non-party and neutral administration.
However, no procession or picketing was seen in support of the blockade Dhaka and Chittagong cities on Sunday morning. Presence of motorized vehicles was almost normal in the streets of the port city and the capital.
A large number of law enforcers remained deployed in different parts of Dhaka to fend off any trouble. BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia called for the blockade for an indefinite period on January 5 after having failed to come out of her Gulshan office to join a planned public rally of the 20-party combine in Dhaka city to mark what she said ‘Democracy Killing Day’.
