BNP announces countrywide demo protesting at denial of rally permission
13 November 2016, Nirapad News: The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Sunday announced a countrywide demonstration programme for Monday in protest against the authorities’ denial to allow it holding 7 November rally in the capital city.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir declared the programme at a press briefing at the party’s Naya Paltan central office, reports UNB news agency.
He said leaders and activists of Dhaka City unit BNP will staged demonstration and rally at every thana of the city.
Besides, the BNP secretary general said, the programme will be observed at every district town and divisional headquarters on the same day.
BNP had a plan to hold a rally at Suhrawardy Uddan today marking November 7 as the ‘National Revolution and Solidarity Day’.
However, the police authorities and the Public Works Department did not allow the party to arrange the rally.
The party had also sought permission to arrange the rally at Suhrawardy Udyan either on 7 or 8 November, but the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) declined to allow it to hold the programme on security ground.
The DMP, however, asked the party to hold a discussion instead of a rally at Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh on Tuesday, but the party turned it down.
