1 March 2015, Nirapad News: The BNP in a statement on Saturday strongly condemned of the killing of blogger Avijit Roy and demanded a fair investigation into the gruesome murder.

BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed said in the statement, “The killing of blogger Avijit Roy at a place like Bangla Academy and TSC amid foolproof security has proved that the government has failed to ensure the security of the country’s citizens.”

He further said, “We strongly condemn and protest Avijit’s murder.” Salahuddin said BNP demands the Govt. carry out a fair probe into the incident and ensure a fair trial.

Avijit Roy, son of Prof Ajoy Roy and founder of Muktamoa blog, was killed and his wife Rafida Afrin Banya injured seriously as unidentified criminals stabbed them near TSC on the Dhaka University (DU) Campus on Thursday night.

Avijit and Rafida, an expatriate couple living in the USA, returned home a few days back as his two books were published on the occasion of the Ekushey Book Fair. Police could not yet arrest anyone involved in the incident and neither have been able to unearth the motive behind it.
