BNP demands UN-led probe into all HR ‘violations’
01 March 2015, Nirapad News: BNP on Sunday demanded a UN-led international investigation into all the incidents of extrajudicial killing, human rights violation and subversive act, including petrol bomb attack.
In a statement, BNP joint secretary general Salauddin Ahmed said, “All those involved in mass killings, extrajudicial killings, abductions, acts of petrol bomb sabotage and the incidents of human rights violation be put on trial after identifying them through an international probe under the UN’s supervision.”
He once again accused the government of trying to malign their ongoing ‘mass movement’ and brand it as the acts of militants and terrorists. “The government-backed terrorists are making efforts to shift the blame on the agitators after carrying out subversive acts in a bid to create a chance for repressing and oppressing the opposition activists.”
The BNP leader claimed that law enforcers are not taking proper actions against the ruling party ‘cadres’ though they are being held with arms and petrol bombs.
“The ruling party terrorists are being released at the behest of the government. On the other hand, many 20–party men are being falsely made petrol bomb throwers after arresting them from their houses and taking their statement under duress,” he added.
Salauddin warned the government that it will not be able to foil the opposition’s democratic movement through killings and repressive acts. “The illegal government will have no other option but to concede to people’s strong force.”
He said their current movement will continue until it attains victory for political solution to the current ‘political’ crisis.
