BNP-Jamaat torched 650 schools to ruin education system: Amu

30 January 2015, Nirapad News: Awami League Advisory Council Member and Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu said here today that the BNP-Jamaat combine torched at least 650 educational institutions in the name of movement to thwart the government’s tremendous initiative in the country’s education sector.

“The preset government under the farsighted leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina distributed a total of 35 crore textbooks free of cost among the students of class-I to Class-IX so that poor pupils get an opportunity to study,” he said.

On the contrary, Amir Hossain Amu said the BNP-Jamaat combine killed people by hurling patrol bombs in the name of movement but Awami League didn’t kill people in its movement when it was in the opposition.

The senior Awami League leader said this while speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the annual sports competition of Jhalakathi Government High School here.

Deputy commissioner and chairman of the school governing committee Minhazul Haque Chowdhury presided over the function, also addressed, among others, by District Awami League president and chairman of the District Council Sardar Md Shahalam, General Secretary Advocate Saifullah Khan Panir, Poura mayor Afzal Hossain, additional police super M Abdur Raquib, president of District Bar Association Advocate Abdul Mannan Rasul and Head master of the school Ramesh Chandra Biswas.

Later, Amir Hossain Amu attended as the chief guest the annual sports competition of Harachandra Government Girls’ High School in the district town.
