BNP vows to materialise martyrs’ dream thru’ movement

14 December 2015, Nirapad News: BNP on Monday vowed to restore democracy in the country through a movement to materialise the dream of martyrs who scarified their lives for the cause of the country.

“The martyred intellectuals sacrificed their lives to liberate the country and establish a democratic Bangladesh. But, unfortunately we’
ve lost the democracy after establishing it,” said BNP acting secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

He further said, “People will restore democracy through a movement imbued with the spirit of the Liberation War. No justified movement can turn futile. On this day, we would like to say people will get organised and restore democracy following the path the martyrs showed them.”

Fakhrul came up with the remarks while talking to reporters after paying homage to martyred intellectuals by placing wreaths at the
Martyred Intellectuals Memorial at Mirpur, marking the Martyred Intellectuals Day.

He said the spirit of the Liberation War is yet to be materialised as people have now got deprived of their all basic and democratic rights. “Even they have no security of their lives.”

Talking to reporters, BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi alleged that the Awami League-led current government is selling the Liberation War for making its political gains while BNP is on a struggle to ensure people’s liberty and restore democracy.

Rizvi said a suffocating situation has been prevailing in the country. “A fair election is the way to get rid of it.”
