BNP’s polls participation, boycott a drama: Minister
29 April 2015, Nirapad News: Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Wednesday said BNP’s participation in and boycotting the city corporation elections was nothing but a drama.
“Participating in the city corporation election was not BNP’s target. They’re trying to find out an issue to continue their movement but they won’t succeed,” Obaidul told reporters while visiting the construction work of Kazirbazar Bridge in Sylhet on Wednesday. “BNP’s call for a silent vote revolution and subsequently boycotting the polls is mysterious,” he said.
Obaidul also said the election results could have gone in favour of BNP if they had not boycotted the polls, but they wanted to stage a drama and then created the situation, he said. The minister also said the BNP activists are now depressed over the activities of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Former MP Syed Jebunnesa Haque, Sylhet deputy commissioner Shahidul Islam, general secretary of district unit Awami League Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury and Awami League city unit general secretary Asad Uddin Ahmed were, among others, present during the minister’s visit.
