BNP’s terrorism can be contained soon: Hanif
03 March 2015, Nirapad News: Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif today said it would obviously take time to contain terrorism if a political party like BNP involves in such activities.
“BNP has now appeared as a militant organisation unleashing terrorism. If people of the country continue to extend their assistance then BNP’s terrorism could be contained soon,” he said.
Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said this emerging from a meeting of the ruling Awami League (AL), its associate bodies and like minded organisations at the political office of AL president Sheikh Hasina at Dhanmondi in the city.
The meeting was attended, among others, by AL joint general secretaries Dr Dipu Moni and Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak, organising secretaries BM Mozammel Huq, AFM Bahauddin Nasim and Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, office secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, labour affairs secretary Habibur Rahman Siraj, information and research affairs secretary Advocate Afzal Hossain, central working committee members SM Kamal Hossain and Sujit Roy Nandi, Dhaka City AL acting president MA Aziz and presidents and general secretaries of associate and like minded bodies.
Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, who chaired the meeting, also announced the ruling party’s programme to mark the historic March 7, which include placing of wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi Road-32 at 7 in the morning and holding of a public rally at the city’s historic Suhrawardy Udyan at 3 in the afternoon on the day.
AL president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will address the public rally as the chief guest.
In reply to a question, the AL joint general secretary said, “It’s the responsibility of the government to arrest anybody in compliance with the warrant of arrest issued by the court. The law enforcement agencies will take necessary action in this regard.”
To another query, Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said, “Action should be taken against Begum Khaleda Zia in accordance with the measures taken on charge of murdering people.”
