Boby to contest mayoral election
22 March 2015, Nirapad News: Bobby Hajjaj, adviser to Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad, yesterday announced that he will contest the Dhaka City Corporation (North) polls as an independent mayoral candidate.
The young politician, son of controversial businessman Musa Bin Shamsher, made the announcement at his Banani office in the capital.
“There are two reasons for contesting the polls. First, this is a non-partisan election where parties cannot directly back any candidate. Secondly, I was born in this city and I want to make Dhaka as I have dreamt,” Bobby told journalists.
Replying to the query whether he took approval from Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad, Bobby said: “Ershad is like a father to me. I do not want to offend him. I have always tried to consult with him. His blessings will always be with me.”
Earlier, Jatiya Party announced that the party will back Bahauddin Bahar for mayor in DCC (North) polls.
When asked about it, Bobby said: “I don’t want any dispute within the party. I want people’s support as an individual, not as a party member.” Bobby asked the party leaders and activists to work in such a manner so that none can raise the allegation of violating party charter against him.
