15 November 2016, Nirapad News: Cox’s Bazar-4 lawmaker Abdur Rahman Bodi today filed an appeal with the High Court against the three-year imprisonment sentence handed down to him by a lower court in a graft case.

“We have filed the plea to acquit him from the charges of corruption,” Bodi’s counsel Nasrin Siddiqui Lina told newsmen.

Dhaka third special judge Abu Ahammed Jamadar on November 2 sentenced Bodi to three years imprisonment and fined him Taka one million in a graft case filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

According to the case documents, Bodi submitted a wrong wealth statement to the anti-graft body, concealing the real price of his properties.

ACC deputy director Abdus Sobhan filed the case against Bodi on August 21, 2014, while investigation officer and ACC deputy director Manjil Morshed filed charge sheet against the lawmaker on May 7, 2015.

In the charge sheet, the IO had accused Bodi of amassing illegal wealth worth of more than Taka six crore. The lawmaker also concealed information about wealth worth of around Taka four crore.
