BR would be a mode of public transport: Mazibul Hoque
“Bangladesh Railway (BR) would be a mode of public transport under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s bold and dynamic leadership,” he told this while visiting railway bridge construction works at Bhairab in Kishorganj yesterday.
The minister said the railway line will be constructed in every district across the country, adding, “The government is working relentlessly to provide economic and better transport service.”
Hoque also visited Bhairab and Titash areas to oversee Dhaka-Chittagong and Dhaka-Sylhet double-track railway construction works along with construction of the second Bhairab railway bridge in Kishoreganj and Titash bridge in Brahmanbaria.
He also said the Dhaka-Chittagong and Dhaka-Sylhet rail double-track would bring rapid change in the railway sector, as train could be reached in just 4 to 5 hours.
“The railway sector was ignored during the BNP-Jamaat regime and no
government develops the railway after independence. The BNP pulled out railway lines and sold it out and many stations have shutdown,” Hoque said.
During the inspection, railways secretary Feroz Salah Uddin, BR Director General M Amjad Hossain, director of the Titash and Bhairab bridges projects Abdul Hye and officials of the ministry concerned were present.
