BSMMU observes World Heart Day
21 Septembar 2015, Nirapad News: Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) observed the World Heart Day today, which will be observed globally on Sept 29, in a befitting manner aimed at creating awareness among people to prevent the cardiovascular disease.
BSMMU Cardiology department organized a two day-long conference titled, ‘Complex Coronary Intervention & Scientific Conference’ to mark the Day focusing on creating healthy heart environments ensuring everyone has the chance to make healthy heart choices wherever they live, work and play.
President of Heart Foundation of Bangladesh National Professor Brig. (Retd) Abdul Malik inaugurated the conference with Chairman of Cardiology Department Prof Dr Sajal Banerjee in the Chair.
BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Kamrul Hassan Khan was the chief guest of the program while other professors from different departments were present.
The speakers encouraged all to reduce cardiovascular risk, and promote a heart-healthy planet for those around us.
Earlier, the department arranged a rally on the campus.
World Heart Day takes place on 29 September every year and is a chance for people across the globe to take part in the world’s biggest intervention against cardiovascular disease. This year the theme is creating heart-healthy environments.
