Canadian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Benoit Pierre Laramee

24 February 2015, Nirapad News: Canadian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Benoit Pierre Laramee on Monday expressed their eagerness to establish Dhaka-Toronto direct air link as it wants to be a partner to the development process of Bangladesh civil aviation sector.

The High Commissioner also expressed his government’s willingness to be a partner in the development of the country’s air ports and other infrastructures under Public Private Partnership (PPP) in civil aviation sector.

Lauding the ongoing progress in socio-economic sector of Bangladesh, Laramee said the economic progress would help change the living standard of the people of Bangladesh.

Referring to the ongoing political unrest, the envoy categorically said, ‘It is Bangladesh’s internal problem and the people of the country would solve it.”

In reply, Menon termed Canada as a ‘trusted’ friend of Bangladesh and said that the two countries had been enjoying excellent bilateral relations over the decades.

He told the envoy that the government is actively considering to construct the Bangabandhu International Airport aiming at making Bangladesh as an important hub of Asian civil aviation.

Describing Bangladesh as an ideal place for foreign investment, the minister sought the envoy’s cooperation to encourage Canadian entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh tourism and civil aviation sector taking the advantage of the country’s favorable investment policy.
