CFTC, CCCI interaction stressed
14 March 2015, Nirapad News: China Foreign Trade Centre (CFTC), a Chinese government-sponsored institution, has laid stress on increasing direct and technological communications with Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) to strengthen their relationship.
This will eventually facilitate enhance the bilateral trade volume between Bangladesh and China, said Alan Liu, general manager of international communication department of CFTC Thursday.
The CFTC official said this when he called on CCCI president Mahbubul Alam at the chamber’s office at the World Trade Center (WTC) in Chittagong, a CCCI news release said.
Mr Alam said that Chittagong is an ideal destination for both local and foreign investments thanks to its geographical location in the middle of SAARC and ASEAN regions and presence of the country’s main seaport there.
After implementation of the proposed Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor (BCIM-EC), direct connection of Dhaka to Kunming will significantly help develop the trade and commerce relationship between the two countries.
He further said that the government is considering establishment of a specialized industrial zone for the Chinese investors here.
The CFTC delegation later visited the 23nd Chittagong International Trade Fair (CITF)-2015 and appraised the private sector initiative.
The CFTC official also invited the CCCI leaders and the Chittagong businesses to participate in the International Canton Fair in China.
