Chittagong BCL infighting over jhut trade kills one
15 March 2016, Nirapad News: An activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was killed when two groups of the pro-ruling Awami League student body locked in a gun battle in Madarbari Kamalgate area of the city early Tuesday.
A clash ensued between the supporters of Royal, general secretary of the Islamia College unit of BCL, and Hanif, a former leader of the unit, over taking control of jhut (garments rag) trade in the area at about 1:30am, said Officer-in-charge of Sadarghat Police Station Mainul Islam Bhuinyan.
Later, both the groups exchanged fire, leaving Jayed,35, a supporter of the Royal Group and son of Abdur Razzak, a resident of the area, wounded.
Jayed was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injures at about 3:00am.
