Chittagong ready to hold ICC U-19 WC Cricket matches
18 January 2016, Nirapad News: Brisk preparations are afoot to hold the upcoming ICC Under-19 World Cup (WC) Cricket matches in Chittagong.
Foolproof security measures have been arranged in two stadiums of the city to ensure smooth holding of the cricket matches.
Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin, also vice president of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), disclosed this in a coordination meeting at Chittagong Circuit House this afternoon.
Nasir told the meeting that all concerned have already been shouldered with their respective duties and responsibilities.
He also urged all concerned to keep vigil so that the foreign cricketers, who will arrive in the Port City on Monday, do not face even slightest problem.
“Surrounding areas of the two match venues— Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium and MA Aziz Stadium— will be cleaned within January 21 and the CCC would set up two high-power generators to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the two stadiums”, he added.
Earlier, Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) also chalked out full proof security measures centring the two match venues.
Besides, tournament matches, practice and warm matches will be held in the two stadiums to be participated by Bangladesh, West Indies, Zimbabwe, South Africa, England, Fiji and Namibia cricket teams between January 20 and February 2.
