Chittagong slum fire kills 1
28 November 2015, Nirapad News: A young boy was killed and at least 50 shanties were gutted in a devastating fire which broke out at a slum in the city’s Agrabad-Mogpukurpar area on Friday night.
The deceased could not be identified immediately.
Deputy assistant director of Chittagong fire service Abdul Malek said the fire originated at a shanty following the explosion of a gas cylinder around 9:45 pm and soon it engulfed the adjoining ones.
On information, 12 fire-fighting units rushed in and doused the blaze after one and half hours of frantic efforts with the help of locals.
Later, they recovered the charged body of the youth, aged around 20-22, from the slum and sent it to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for autopsy.
