CID asked to submit Rana Plaza probe report
09 March 2015, Nirapad News: A Dhaka court yesterday once again asked the Criminal Investigation Department to submit probe report by April 15 in three cases filed over the 2013 Rana plaza collapse.
Dhaka’s Additional Senior Judicial Magistrate Nazmul Haque Shyamal set the date as CID officer Bijoy Krishna Kar failed to submit the report yesterday.
On February 1, the court asked CID to submit the reports by Sunday, March 8.
On April 24, 2013, Rana Plaza, which housed five garment factories, a shopping mall and a branch of a private bank, collapsed leaving at least 1,135, mostly garment workers, dead and 2,000 wounded.
Rajuk official Helal Uddin filed one case against building owner Sohel Rana. Another case was filed by SI Wali Ashraf of Savar police against Rana and several others. Sheuli Akter, wife of victim Jahangir Alam, whose body was recovered from the debris of Rana plaza, filed one more case against Rana, Bazlus Samad Adnan, owner of New Wave Style, and the chief engineer of Savar municipality.
