Coast Guard recovers 1.38 lakh pieces of yaba
23 May 2015, Nirapad News: Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard seized around 1.38 lakh pieces of contraband Yaba tablets with a street value of about Tk 6.90 crore from Chhera Deep island near St Martin’s island in Cox’s Bazaar district early Saturday.
Sources at the Coast Guard headquarters said an operational team of Coast Guard’s Saint Martin station was conducting a drive near Chhera deep in the early hours of Saturday, when they noticed an engine-run boat heading towards the shore at speed sensing the presence of the Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard team chased the engine boat due to its suspicious movement. At one stage, several people, who were on the boat, sank the boat on the shore of ‘Chhera deep’ and fled the scene, leaving a drum on the coast at about 6:00 am.
Searching the drum, the Coast Guard recovered 1.38 lakh pieces of yaba tablets.
