Comilla arson, an extreme violence

o4 February 2015, Nirapad News: Comilla arson, the biggest arson attack on the 29th day of BNP-led-20 party blockade which touched hearts of mass people all over the country.
Nuruzzaman Poplu was a contractor in profession. He resided in the Jessore city’s Ghop Central Road and was quite popular in the area. His daughter Maisha was a student of grade 9 of Jessore Police Line High School. Poplu’s father is a retired bank officer and his mother is a school teacher. The devastating news hasn’t reached them yet. The family has lost 2 lively members in the recent petrol bomb attack on a bus at the Chauddagram of Comilla. Poplu along with his family were coming back from his Cox’s Bazaar visit, and met with an arson attack in Comilla, which killed him and his teenage daughter.
The attack was reported on the Dhaka Chittagong highway at around 3.30 in the afternoon on Tuesday by a group of miscreants, allegedly supporters of the nonstop blockade by the BNP led 20 party alliances. At least twenty five passengers were injured, ten of them were burnt.
The ‘Icon Paribahan’ bus was heading for Dhaka from Cox’s Bazar when it was attacked by agitators at 3.30am at Choddogram Upazila’s Jagmohanpur. Seven passengers were burnt alive because they could not get out of the bus. The fire was later brought under control by the Comilla fire services. The injured were initially taken to the Chauddagram Upazila Health Complex and was later shifted to the Comilla Medical College and Hospitals (CMCH). The victims who were in a critical situation were then shifted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s burn unit.
Six of the dead were primarily identified as Jessore’s Nuruzzaman Poplu (48), his daughter Naima Tasnin Maisha (15), Cox Bazaar’s Yousuf (55), Taher (38), Narsingdi’s Asma Begum (28) and her daughter Shanta (5).
In Barisal, a truck driver, Nur Hossain Shikder (32) and his helper, Zafar Rari (26) were killed as miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at their vehicle at Sundardi in Gaurnadi upazila early this morning.
In Jessore, Liton (20) son of Atiar Rahman, and Yusuf (22) son of Abdul Aziz of Manirampur uapzila, were killed as a truck ran them over while trying to hurl petrol bombs at the vehicle at Begaritala in Manirampur upazila in the morning. In the capital, miscreants torched a bus at Chowdhurypara in the capital’s Malibagh area around 7:00 am. Besides, pickets blasted 10 crude bombs in Shahjadpur area in the morning.
