Confidence between police and people stressed
25 November 2015, Nirapad News: A view exchange meeting between police officers and civil society members observed that there was no alternative to enhancing the confidence between police and people for better governance.
The meeting styled “Peoples’ Rights and Roles and Responsibility and Role of Police” held at Nanking Darbar Hall in Rajshahi city viewed that all the government and non-government organizations concerned should work together to establish and ensure cordial relations and harmony between the law enforcement agencies especially police and people in general.
Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST) organized the meeting in association with Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative and European Union. Ward Councilor of Rajshahi City Corporation Md Kamruzzaman, former deputy director of Department of Social Services Md Mozammel Haque, President of Shaw Unnayan Mustafizur Rahman Khan, Officer-in-charge of Boalia Model Police station Shahadat Hossain, BLAST Consultant Advocate Tazul Islam and its local unit coordinator Abdus Samad spoke on the occasion.
In his remark, Md Kamruzzaman said “We have to devise ways and means on how to check the existing crimes more effectively”.
He mentioned that police have vital role towards ensuring peace and security everywhere in the society and they should be very much careful about protecting human rights.
During his concept-paper presentation, Advocate Tazul Islam said none has the right to violate human rights. Collective efforts of quarters concerned are very much important in this regard.
The meeting underlined the need for making the community policing more effective and need-oriented.
