Cops to be investigated for negligence over Tavella killing
6 October 2015, Nirapad News: A three-member committee has been inquiring whether any on-duty cops or coordinating officers had any negligence in connection with Italian national Cesare Tavella’s killing in Gulshan in the city.
Miscreants sprayed bullets on Italian national Cesare Tavella, 50, at Road-90 of Gulshan-2, some 500 metres off Gulshan Police Station, on September 28 evening. He died while being moved to nearby United Hospital.
Sources at the DMP headquarters said the committee headed by Additional Commissioner (DB& Prosecution) Didar Ahmed was formed on the day following the killing (September 29). Other members of the committee are—Deputy Commissioner (Diplomatic Security) Md Ataul Kibria and DC (Professional Standard and internal Investigation division) Tutul Chakrabarti.
Contacted, DC (Media) Muntashirul Islam said the inquiry committee will determine whether there was any negligence of duty by police on-duty in the area.
The committee will submit its report to the DMP Commissioner shortly, he added.
