Country reports 52 Covid-19 deaths, 7,075 new cases

With the deaths of 52 more people in the last 24 hours until 8:00 am on Monday, Bangladesh’s Covid-19 death count now stands at 9,318.

As many as 7,075 fresh cases were reported, more than 7,000 patients for the second consecutive day, taking the total virus cases to 6,44,439.

On Sunday, Bangladesh reported 7,087 coronavirus infected patients –a record-high number of daily COVID-19 infections in the the span of 24 hours.

Health authorities also reported 2,932 more recoveries from Covid-19 in the same period, bringing the tally of recoveries to 5,55,414.

In the last 24 hours, 30,239 samples were tested across the country, yielding a positivity rate of 23.4 percent.

The latest figures put the recovery rate at 86.19 per cent, while the mortality rate stands at 1.45 per cent.

China reported first death from the novel coronavirus in Wuhan, the capital of Central China’s Hubei province, on January 11 last year.

Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 last year and the first death on March 18 the same year.

According to Worldometer’s COVID-19 data, the deadly virus has killed 28,67,403 people globally and infected 13,19,83,958 while 10,62,86,986 of them made recovery as of today afternoon.
