Cricketer Rubel gets bail, to stay with World Cup squad
Nirapad News : A Dhaka court has granted bail to the Bangladesh’s cricket World Cup team member Rubel Hossain in a case filed by film actress Naznin Akter Happy. Metropolitan Sessions Judge Imrul Kayes granted Rubel’s bail petition on Sunday. The petition was submitted to the court today by the national cricketer’s counsel Sajay Chakrabarty, three days after the fast bowler was denied bail sent to jail by the Metropolitan Magistrate, Dhaka. Rubel moved the Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court after his bail petition was rejected by the Magistrate’s Court on Thursday. Judge Imrul Kayes had heard the matter on Thursday and kept his order pending, said Happy’s lawyer Tuhin Hawlader. Happy filed the case against Rubel under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act on December 13 alleging that the fast bowler had engaged her in physical relationship with promises of marriage. Rubel appeared in High Court on Dec 15 and filed an appeal asking for anticipatory bail. The court granted a 4-week bail. On January 8, the pacer surrendered to the Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court and sought bail again. The court turned down his plea and sent him to jail. This was three days before the expiry of his anticipatory bail, according to a news agency.
