CRP to observe 22 October National Road Safety Day
10 October 2015, Nirapad News: CRP is going to observe the National Road Safety Day for Road Traffic Victims with a two days’ programme which will start on Wednesday 21 and will close on Thursday 22 October 2015. It is a day of rememberance for those who have died or were injured in road crashes and recalling the plight of their loved ones who must cope with the consequences of their death or injuries.
National Road Safety Day has been observed throughout the country every year due to efforts taken by Nirapad Sarak Chai (NISCHA) after the sad demise of its Chairman and renowned film actor Ilias Kanchan’s wife Jahanara Kanchan in a fatal road crash on 22 October 1993.
The two day program will comprise of several programmes and initiatives, which are:
– Art competition which will focus on road safety issues where almost 100 students will take part
– Debate competition at University level on 21 October
– A rally on 22 October from CRP Savar premises to Dhaka- Aricha highway for building awareness and prevention of road traffic accidents.
Patients, students, staff members, volunteers and distinguished persons of different sectors of the society will be present in the programme. NISCHA chairman Ilias Kanchan will grace the programme as the chief guest on Tuesday, 21 October 2015.
Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) has been providing medical treatment and rehabilitation to people with spinal cord and other injuries resulting from road crashes.
