Danish Minister for Trade and Development Cooperation, Mogens Jensen.

17 March 2015, Nirapad News: Danish Minister for Trade and Development Cooperation, Mogens Jensen is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on Tuesday (March 17) on a 3 day official visit to attend a conference on Ready Made Garments and Beyond.

Embassy of Denmark in Dhaka issued a press release on Monday regarding the visit.

According to the release the conference titled ‘Denmark and Bangladesh Framing the future’ will focus on the learning from the last two year’s multi-stakeholder cooperation within Ready Made Garments (RMG) and how these learnings may be leveraged for other potential export sectors and in respect of greening of the RMG Industry.

Minister Mogens Jensen will be accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Danish Ministry of Employment, and officials from the Danish Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

Mogens Jensen is likely to meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Finance Minister A M A Muhith, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Foreign Minister A H Mahmood Ali and State Minister for Labour and Employment Mujibul Haque, the release added.

The Minister will also meet with senior leaders from other major political parties, civil society leaders, key actors in the RMG industry, Danish companies and beneficiaries of Danish development assistance around the country.

The Minister and his delegation will also visit DANIDA-supported development projects working in agriculture and rural roads in climate vulnerable areas of Barisal.

The Minister will also visit the RMG factory Aeko-Tex Group in Gazipur. At Aeko-Tex, the Minister will have a chance to see how a factory, implementing CSR initiatives, is also able to gain valuable business advantages.

This will be Mogens Jensen’s first visit to Bangladesh as Minister for Trade and Development Cooperation.
