Database for expatriates, returned workers soon: Nurul Islam

17 March 2016, Nirapad News: Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam, B.Sc, today said that along with building a skilled manpower, union-based database for expatriates and returned overseas workers would be created soon.

The minister said this while speaking at a view exchange meeting after he paid a visit to Technical Training Centre in Comilla at the district headquarters this morning.

During his visit, the minister went round automotive, general electrical workshop, general electronics, refrigeration and air conditioning, general mechanics, civil construction, plumbing and pipe fitting, wood working, electrical maintenance workshop and welding and fabrication sections of the Technical Training Centre (TTC).

The minister said Technical Training Centres (TTC) have been constructed in each of the districts at the instruction of the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to create skilled manpower in district and upazila level while construction of TTC in every upazila is going on now.

He said out of the total manpower of the country working abroad, some 6,35,690 persons are exclusively from Comilla district which is 11 percent of the total overseas employed persons.

Principal in charge of Comilla TTC Nazrul Islam made a power point presentation on overall aspects of the TTC. Director General of the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training Md Selim Reza presided over the meeting in which acting secretary of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry Begum Shamsun Nahar attended as the special guest, according to a press release.
