“Democracy has been established in the country only because of Sheikh Hasina”
17 May 2015, Nirapad News: Awami League presidium member and Deputy Leader of the House Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury said democracy has been established in the country only because of Sheikh Hasina.
“After the brutal killing of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, when Awami League leaders and activists had become bewildered, she returned to the country and took the helm of the party. Because of her, democracy has been established in the country and it is moving forward,” she said.
She came up with the observation while addressing a discussion organized by Dhaka City Awami League (AL) at Institutions of Engineers auditorium, marking the 34th homecoming day of Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Presided over by Dhaka City AL acting president MA Aziz, the discussion was addressed by Al advisory council member Tofail Ahmed, AL presidium members Begum Matia Chowdhury, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim and Mohammad Nasim, joint general secretaries Mahbub-Ul-Alam Hanif and Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak, organizing secretary A F M Bahauddin Nasim, general secretary of Dhaka City AL Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, Bir Bikram, Mayors of Dhaka north and south city corporations respectively Annisul Haque and Sayeed Khokon, among others.
“Bangladesh is marching forward under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and nobody will be able to hinder the progress of the country. No matter what the obstruction is, Sheikh Hasina will establish Bangladesh as a country based upon the ideologies of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahamn,” said Tofail.
Pointing towards the blunder of BNP in the recently held city polls, Matia also the agriculture minister said, “You boycotted the polls halfway through, but your party men have taken their oaths as councilors. Shall we now think that the leaders of your party do not follow your command?”
