Despite Rumana’s fight Bangladesh lose to Pakistan
6 October 2015, Nirapad News: Bangladesh National Women Cricket Team lost the first ODI of the two-match series against Pakistan National Women Team by 20 runs despite Rumana Ahmed fought alone with her fifty at Southend Club Cricket Stadium, Karachi in Pakistan on Sunday.
Winning the toss Pakistan opted to bat first and scored a moderate total of 214 runs for all in 49.5 overs riding on the 92 runs of Bismah Maroof.
Chasing the target of 215 runs, Bangladesh eves could manage 194 runs for nine wickets in 50 overs.
Bangladesh started better than the T20 matches adding 25 runs for the first wicket stand. Opener Shamima Sultana (24) and one down Farzana Haque (26) presented a strong base to the Tigress.
Once the total was 103 for three in 32nd over and it seemed that the tourist might win the match. But then they lost three wickets of Salma Khatun (3), Ritu Moni (7) and Fahima Khatun (2) quickly. Losing these three wickets Bangladesh went to back foot.
Though Rumana Ahmed and Jahanara Alam (23) added 44 runs for the eight wicket stand, they failed to snatch the victory.
Bangladesh lost the wicket of Rumana when the team total was 190 in 48.3 overs and with the loss of that wicket Tigress lost the last hope of win.
Before getting out Rumana scored a brilliant 70 runs off 97 balls with four boundaries.
For Pakistan, Anam Amin grabbed three wickets.
Earlier, the staring of Pakistan was not so good. They lost their both of the opener for 38 runs.
Nain Abidi (27) and Bismah Maroof added 61 runs for the third wicket stand to rebuild the innings.
Then Pakistan stumbled again as they lost two wickets at the 99 runs mark. But the outstanding performer of the T20 series Bismah Maroof led her side. She also made another three effective pair of 29, 36 and 36 runs for the sixth, seventh and eighth wicket stand with Nida Dar, Asmavia Iqbal and Rabiya Shah respectively.
Bismah socred 92 runs and adjudged as the player of the match.
For Bangladesh, Salma Khatun hauled three wickets.
Both sides will confront each other in the second and last match on Tuesday at the same venue.
