Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has instructed four labs in Dhaka to stop collecting coronavirus samples outside their own buildings and to stop collecting samples of passengers going home. DGHS in its initial investigation found the truth of the allegation that fake coronavirus reports are being provided to overseas passengers through several labs in the city.

A letter has been sent to four labs in the capital, DGHS sources confirmed.

The four accused labs are CSBF Health Center, Stemz Health Care, Al-Jami Diagnostic Center and Medinova Medical Services Ltd Mirpur branch. DGHS has suspended the collection of samples and issuance of coronavirus certificates to these institutions.

They say such immoral activities are a threat to public health and have tarnished the country’s image.

The letter said, “Recently, there have been several allegations of irregularities from your institution, including issuing fake Covid-19 reports to foreign passengers (such as issuing negative certificates to positive patients, issuing negative certificates without collecting samples, extorting extra money through fraud, hiring brokers in the name of sample collection booths, etc. which is proved by verification of DHIS-2 database and preliminary investigation.”
