Dhaka-Ctg rail communication resumes
15 December 2015, Nirapad News: The rail communications between Dhaka and Chittagong has resumed as trains started plying on newly installed 64-km rail track from Bhairab to Tongi on Tuesday noon.
Earlier, the rail link between Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet snapped as an engine and a compartment of a train derailed at Kanabari of Narsingdi around 9.15am.
Narsingdi railway police outpost assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Mahbub Alam told that a Chittagong-bound train has left Narsingdi rail station around 12:05pm through the newly installed track which is yet to be inaugurated.
The track was installed at a cost of Tk 2,213-crore.
He also said it was uncertain when the salvage work of derailed engine and compartment will be completed.
