Dhaka to continue cooperation with new Turkish government: PM

03 November 2015,Nirapad News: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today congratulated her Turkish counterpart Dr Ahmet Davutoglu on his party’s victory in the general election, reiterating Bangladesh’s commitment to continue cooperation with the new Turkish government.
“We reiterate our commitment to continue our cooperation with the new Turkish government under your wise stewardship to take our relationship to a new height for mutual benefit of our peoples in the days to come,” she said in a message sent to Dr Ahmet Davutoglu.
The Prime Minister said the excellent fraternal relationship between Bangladesh and Turkey dates back to centuries which is based on common history, cultural, faith and values.
“Bangladesh would remain ready to extend all possible support to its Turkish brothers and sisters in their national quest for development and prosperity,” she said.
Sheikh Hasina noted that she is immensely delighted to know that Justice and Development Party (AKP) won the general election held in the Republic of Turkey on November 1 with outright majority under the able leadership of Dr Ahmet Davutoglu.
“It is a testimony of the trust and confidence reposed on Dr Ahmet Davutoglu and his party by the people of Turkey,” she said.
Sheikh Hasina said: “The people of Bangladesh join me in congratulating you, and through you the leadership and members of the AKP as well as the people of Turkey on this joyous moment.”
“We sincerely wish and pray that the Turkish government under your dynamic and visionary leadership would be able to materialize the aspirations of the people of the Republic,” she said.
The Prime Minister said the people and the government of Bangladesh would be happy to see today’s modern Turkey by their side in their march towards the vision of becoming a middle-income Bangladesh by 2021 and a developed country by 2041.
She wished good health and happiness of Dr Ahmet Davutoglu, and continued peace, progress and prosperity of the brotherly people of the Republic of Turkey.
