Dhaka to look into ties with Pakistan if it continues conspiracy: Mozammel
19 December 2015, Nirapad News: Minister for Liberation War Affairs AKM Mozammel Haque said here today that Bangladesh would look into the diplomatic relations with Pakistan if it continues to hatch conspiracy siding with anti-liberation forces against the country’s independence.
“The issue (relating to severing diplomatic relations with Pakistan) may be raised in the next session of the Jatiya Sangsad (Parliament),” he said.
The minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at a freedom fighters’ gathering at Lohagara Upazila Pilot High School ground in the district.
Lohagara Upazila Muktijoddha Command Council organised the discussion marking the Lohagara-free day with its president Fakir Mafizul Haque in the chair.
Vice-president of Muktijoddha Sangsad Central Command Council Ismat Kadir Gama and local freedom fighters Mujibur Rahman, Miah Mujibur Rahman, Subhash Chandra Bose, Munshi Nazrul Islam, MM Golam Kabir, Shikdar Abdul Mannan and Syed Faizul Ameer also spoke at the discussion.
Mozammel Haque said, “BNP and its ally Jamaat want to transform Bangladesh into a hub of terrorism and militancy resorting to clandestine attacks. But, the pro-liberation government would not let their evil design to be materialized.”
He said, “Alongside the glorious role of gallantry of the freedom fighters in our great Liberation War, the heinous activities of the war criminals will be included in the textbooks.
“Though the textbooks contained the heroic role of the freedom fighters, the new generation could not know the heinous and barbaric role of the war criminals in the war. That’s why initiative has been taken to let the new generation know about the real history of atrocities and barbarism unleashed by those who committed crimes against humanity during the Liberation War.”
The minister said the government has been contemplating taking up housing project for the freedom fighters and under the project freedom fighters housing estates would be constructed in each of the districts and upazilas.
Besides, Mozammel Haque said steps had already been taken to preserve the historic memorial places of the War of Liberation, and the graves of the freedom fighters would be constructed with concrete and in an identical design so that these could easily be identified as the graves of the freedom fighters after more than a hundred years.
