Dr Wazed remembered at discussion
17 May 2015, Nirapad News: Speakers at a discussion held at National Press Club remembered the work and life of internationally renowned nuclear scientist Dr M A Wazed Miah, son-in-law of Bangabandhu and husband of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“He was an honest and real man, free of any kind of greed. He tried his heart out to establish the principles and ideologies of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” they told the discussion marking the 6th death anniversary of Dr Miah.
Presided over by Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, the discussion was organized by Bangabandhu Shikkha o Gobeshona Parishad (BSGP).
State Minister for Science and Technology Yafes Osman addressed the function as the chief guest, while Prime Minister’s special assistant and office secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap addressed it as main discussant.
“As the son-in-law of Bangabandhu, he could have enjoyed a luxurious life if he wanted to. But he never did it, rather lived a completely ordinary life and fought for building a ‘Golden Bengal’, as dreamt by Bangabandhu,” said Dr Siddique.
After the discussion, a special doa mahfil was also held.
