Dr Wazed served nation selflessly with patriotism: speakers
10 May 2016, Nirapad News: Internationally reputed nuclear scientist and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s husband Dr M A Wazed Miah served the nation selflessly with the highest degree of patriotism, love and passion.
The observations came at a memorial discussion organised by Dr Wazed Smriti Sangshad (DWSS) at Shilpokola Academy auditorium in the city on Monday night on life and deeds of the nuclear scientist in observance of his seventh death anniversary.
General Secretary of DWSS and senior journalist Saiful Islam Jahangir delivered welcome speech narrating tremendous contribution of Dr Wazed and different aspects of his deeds in building a developed nation to materialise the dreams of Bangabandhu.
Vice-president of DWSS and Dr Wazed’s high school level classmate Monwar Hossain presented keynote essay on the life, deed, personality, excellent character, dozens of memories, unparallel talent and human qualities of the nuclear scientist.
Deputy Commissioner of Rangpur Rahat Anwar addressed the discussion as the chief guest with Acting President of DWSS and valiant freedom fighter Professor Dr Hamidul Haque Khandker in the chair.
Noted cultural personalities Biplob Prashad and Dr Mofizul Islam Mantu, Joint Secretary of DWSS Advocate Rothish Chandra Bhowmick Babu Sona, its Member Rosy Rahman and General Secretary of District Shilpokola Academy Tauhidur Rahman Tutul addressed as special guests.
Moderated by Women Affairs Secretary of DWSS Tahmina Shirin, its executive committee members, academicians, professionals, intellectuals, educationists, socio-cultural activists and local journalists were present.
Terming Dr Wazed as an honest man with noble character, thoughts and beliefs, the speaker said he worked for immortalising ideals of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman through building technologically advanced Bangladesh.
In her speech, Rosy Rahman said Dr Wazed as was an incomparable man with excellent human qualities and added that his ideals in serving the nation would remain immortal as a source of national inspiration before the people for ever.
Dr Mofizul Islam Mantu called upon the students and young generations for following the ideals of Dr Wazed in building a scientifically developed Bangladesh to realise Bangabandhu’s dream of building a Sonar Bangla.
The chief guest said ideals of Dr Wazed in serving the country selflessly would remain as a model source of inspiration for the nation and the people would remember him forever for his tremendous contribution in flourishing science education and research works.
Earlier, DWSS chalked out programmes including offering Fateha and placing of wreaths at the grave of Dr Wazed in his paternal village Fatehpur under Pirganj upazila and also in the city, doa mahfil and munajats.
