DSE turnover dips close to red

24 December 2014, Nirapad News : Stocks today ended marginally lower for the second running session with turnover dipping below Tk 2.0-billion level as investors followed cautious stance. DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) went down by 15.06 points or 0.31 per cent to close at 4,823.57 points from the previous session. The two other indices also closed in red. The DS30, comprising blue chips lost 4.52 points or 0.25 per cent to close at 1,786.87 points. The DSE Shariah Index dropped 4.25 points or 0.37 per cent to close at 1,138.69 points. Turnover came down below Tk 2.0 billion level after seven-session and amounted to Tk 1.91 billion , registering a decline of 5.44 per cent over the previous session’s value of Tk 2.02 billion. The losers took a lead over the gainers as out of 309 issues traded, 168 declined, 101 advanced and 40 remained unchanged on the DSE floor. Square Pharmaceuticals was the most traded stock with shares worth Tk 90.37 million changing hands followed by GP, Saif Powertec, Lafarge Surma and Beximco Pharma. ICB AMCL Second Mutual Fund was the day’s top gainer, posting a rise of 4.44 per cent while Zeal Bangla Sugar Mills was the day’s worst loser, plunging 9.78 per cent. The port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed in the red with its Selective Categories Index – CSCX – lost 33.62 points to close at 9,019.29 points.
