DUJ demands immediate announcement of 9th wage board award

Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) today staged a demonstration demanding immediate announcement of the 9th wage board award.

Their other demands included stopping firing of journalists by different media houses, providing regular salary and allowances to newsmen and passing a law for newsmen in the parliament.

Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) President Mollah Jalal, its Secretary General Shaban Mahmood, Vice-President Syed Istiaque Reza, DUJ General Secretary Sohel Haider Chowdhury, BFUJ Joint Secretary General Abdul Majid and DUJ BSS Unit Deputy Chief Kazi Golam Alauddin (Tanvir Aladin), among others, spoke at the demonstration held in front of Jatiya Press Club (JPC).

DUJ President Abu Zafar Surya chaired it.

The journalist leaders also demanded payment of salary and festival bonus to journalists before the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.

They declared that journalist community will form a human-chain in front of the JPC at 11am tomorrow to press home their demands.
