Durga Puja to be celebrated through 314 mandaps in Narsingdi
10 October 2015, Nirapad News: The district administration held a preparatory meeting on Thursday to ensure peaceful celebration of Durja puja, one of the biggest festival of the Hindu community, which kicks off on October 19.
The meeting was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Abu Hena Morshed Zaman.
Adequate security measures have also been taken to celebrate the Durja Puja through 314 puja mandaps in a befitting manner across the district, the meeting sources said.
President of the District Puja Udjapan Committee Ranjat Kumar Shaha said, 314 puja mandaps will be erected in the six upazilas of the district this year.
Of the total 91 puja mandaps would be erected in Sadar upazila, 67 in Shibpur upazila, 53 in Raipura upazila, 44 in Monohardi upazila, 41 in Polash upazila and 18 in Belabo upazila.
The meeting also decided that despite cooperation of the puja udjapan committees, the district administration is also taking special security measures for ensuring a peaceful celebration of the festival.
