E-public information centre launched in Bhelabari union

25 April 2016, Nirapad News: Members of ‘Annesha Bhelabari Federation (ABF)’ has set up a unique example by launching e-public information centre (e-PIC) at its office in Bhelabari union under Aditmari upazila in Lalmonirhat on Sunday afternoon.

The e-PIC has been established with assistance of RDRS Bangladesh, a
reputed NGO, under its Strengthening Community-based Organisations for Pro-poor Democratic Governance Project (SCOPE), a press release said today.

The main objectives of establishing the e-PIC include reaching all  services to the people’s doorsteps and strengthen democratic practice in the union level federations at grassroots levels to further accelerate the government efforts of building a digital Bangladesh.

Male Female members of the Youth Forums of ABF will operate the e-PIC to provide internet-based services to local people from all walks in life, including poor farmers, educated unemployed youths and students of different educational institutions.

Executive Director of RDRS Bangladesh Dr Selima Rahman formally launched the e-PIC and its activities by cutting ribbon and browsing internet there at a colourful ceremony as the chief guest.

Programme Manager (Filed Coordination) of RDRS Bangladesh for Lalmonirhat Maidul Islam, its Senior Programme Manager (Microcredit) Nazrul Islam, Social Development Officer Zulfiqur Ali, IT Officer Raihanul Islam, addressed.

With Chairman of ABF Abu Bakar Siddique in the chair, members of ABF and its Male & Female Youth Forums, local public representatives, civil society members, community leaders, professionals and elite attended the ceremony.

The speakers said setting up of the e-PIC would enable the common people in sending and receiving e-mail messages, getting government services and information on agriculture, health, employments, filing up of applications for admission in educational institutions and other e-services easily at their doorsteps.

The chief guest highly appreciated the initiative of setting up of the e-PIC to benefit the common people of rural area alongside with the ongoing hectic government efforts for building a digital Bangladesh.

“The newly set up e-PIC would successfully reach all necessary government services to the people’s doorsteps in accelerating rural development and improving life standard of the poorer section people of the area,” she hoped.
