EC allocates Tk 271.83 crore for law enforcement agencies

The Election Commission has allocated Taka 271, 83, 32,584 for maintaining law and order during the 11th general election slated for December 30.

Of the total amount, Taka 163.81 crore was allocated for Ansar-VDP, Tk 63.22 crore for police, Tk 33.02 crore for BGB, Tk 10.20 crore for RAB and Taka 1.56 crore for Coast Guard in advance. Deputy Secretary (election conduct) Mahfuza Akter of EC secretariat informed this through a letter to Public Security Division of Ministry of Home Affairs.

The EC is planning to set a three-tier security for the law enforcement during the polls. It has decided to deploy army as striking force from December 24.

According to EC sources, units of army and navy will be deployed outside the polling booths as striking forces, while RAB, BGB, Coast Guard and Armed Police Battalion teams will patrol the area as mobile teams.
