Education system also damage on Aug 15: Menon
15 August 2015, Nirapad News: Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon today said country’s education system was destroyed on 15 August, 1975, through killing of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
He said “Bangabandhu constituted Qudrat-e-Khuda Education Commission during his three-and-a-half-year government. But the commission was not allowed to see the light after his killing.”
He made the remarks while addressing a discussion at Mukti Bhaban auditorium here. Bangladesh Primary School Assistant Teachers Association organised the discussion, a release said.
The minister said Bangabandhu also nationalized primary education. But, after his killing, it was also brought under the private sector with a lower salary structure for the teachers.
He said the Awami League government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina nationalized 26,000 primary schools after assuming power in 2009. The Awami League government is also implementing the National Education Policy, he added.
