Eight human traffickers arrested in the city
5 October 2015, Nirapad News: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in separate raids arrested eight operatives of an international gang of human traffickers from different parts of the capital along with a huge quantity of fake visas of different countries and passports.
The arrestees are: Matin Mia, 47, son of Shahidul Islam of Sylhet, Jahangir Alam Babu, 45, son of late Moksed Ali, Abul Hossain, 81, son of late Nur Mohammad of Gazipur, Nur Islam, 31, son of Abdullah of Chittagong, Rezaul Karim Sohel,31, son of Mohammad Rafiqul Islam of Comilla, Toyeb Ali, 48, son of late Fatik Chan of Munshiganj, Belal Hossain, 36 and his brother Abul Hossain, 34, sons of late Tofazzal Huq of Noakhali.
A joint team of RAB-3 and headquarters arrested the eight from Motijheel, Paltan and Fakirapool areas in the capital city in separate raids started from Sunday afternoon to early morning today, RAB media wing director, Commander Mufti Mahmud Khan told a press briefing held at RAB headquarters this morning.
RAB personnel seized 700 passports, 2,265 fake visas of different countries, one private car, Taka 1, 28, 000 in cash, one laptop, four CPU, six monitors, four scanner machines, 10 printers and other things from their possession.
During primary interrogation, they confessed their link to an international gang of human traffickers and used to traffic people to Nepal, Singapore, India, Malaysia, Australia, Canada, Myanmar, Iraq, Libya, South Africa, and different European countries through fake visas, the RAB official said.
“We are now on hot pursuit to capture remaining other members of the gang,” he said adding that they are now taking preparation to lodge cases to this end.
