Eight injured in crude bomb blasts, arson attacks in capital
22 February 2015, Nirapad News: At least eight people, including four students, received splinter and burn injuries in separate incidents in the capital yesterday.
Of them, the minor boy, Palash, 9, and his brother-in-law Md Nur Ali, 26, were taken to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) while the others received treatment at the hospital’s casualty unit.
Nur told, he lives in Madhubagh slum of Moghbazar area and works as a painter. “I was returning home after work and Palash was with me when two crude bombs went off in front of Moghbazar police outpost around 10:30 pm,” he said. Nur and Palash got their hands and legs burnt in the attack.
Meanwhile, four students of Eden College received splinter injuries after two crude bombs exploded in Azimpur area around 8:45 pm. The four – Lima, 19, Tania, 21, Oishi, 20, and Laboni, 19 were returning to dorm from Central Shaheed Minar. Mozammel Haque, inspector of DMCH police outpost, said the girls took treatment at the hospital’s casualty unit as splinters hit their legs.
In Press Club area, rickshaw puller Babul Ahmed, 48, received splinter injury in his hands and legs after a crude bomb exploded there around 9.30pm. Mozammel said Babul was also treated at the casualty unit.
Fifty-two-year-old Shahdiul Islam Shahid, joint convener of ward no 20 unit of Awami League in Dhaka, received splinter injuries in leg after a crude bomb exploded in front of Annex Building area of Bangabazar around 7:45pm. He took treatment at the DMCH and returned home.
