Eight policemen injured in a petrol bomb attack
Dhaka, 17 January 2015, Nirapad News : Five policemen were injured in a petrol bomb attack on their vehicle in the city’s Matsya Bhaban area Saturday night. A police van caught fire after miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at it near Matsya Bhaban around 8:40pm, said witnesses and hospital sources.
A policeman sustained burn wounds in the incident and four others were injured while getting down from the vehicle hurriedly. They were immediately taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, according to a news agency. Some among the injured are – SI Md Azad, Constables ‘Morshed’, ‘Shipon’, Badiur Rahman and Mohammad Shamim. Condition of Shamim, who sustained head injuries, was critical according to doctor.
Moshiur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Ramna Police Station, confirmed that the lawmen came under the bomb attack while patrolling in Matsya Bhaban area.
The incident takes place amid the nonstop countrywide blockade enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.
