Ekushey Grantha Mela, 21 publications show-caused
09 February 2016, Nirapad News: Bangla Academy has issued ‘show cause’ notice to 21 publishing houses that participated in the ongoing Ekushey Grantha Mela (book fair), for breaching rules.
Academy director general Shamsuzzaman Khan made the disclosure at a press conference on the academy premises in city Monday afternoon (February 8).
He further said notified publishing houses will be black listed and their allocation will be cancelled in the Grantha Mela next year if they fail to come up with satisfying answers for their behaviour.
The publishing houses include Onnesha, Pearl Publications, Shobha, Gadyapadya, Shabdashilpa and Adorn Publications.
The academy DG said those houses installed their stalls at different places than the allocated locations without informing the authorities concerned.
Bangla Academy organized the press conference to inform about the activities at Grantha Mela in the past seven days.
In response to a question Shamsuzzaman opined that the publishing houses of the country are yet to be able enough to organize a fair like Ekushey Grantha Mela.
