Enrollment of students in technical education to be upgraded: Nahid
14 December 2015, Nirapad News: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid today said the enrollment of students in technical education would be upgraded to 50 percent in the days to come.
“We hope the students’ enrollment in technical education would be upgraded to 50 percent in near future. Technical knowledge will help the young generation build themselves as skilled manpower,” he said while inaugurating a five-day training programme at International Mother Language Institute auditorium here.
Manila-based regional organisation Colombo Plan Staff College and Directorate of Technical Education, Bangladesh organised the training titled “Wave-Based Teaching and Learning System” to enhance skills of teachers and trainers of technical training institutes.
Additional Education Secretary AS Mahmud, Acting Director General of Colombo Plan Staff College Professor Dr G Kulanthaivel and Directorate of Technical Education ANM Salahuddin, joined the function, among others.
Nahid said the present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has put highest emphasis on technical education.
“There are 49 government polytechnic institutes and 63 technical school and colleges under Technical Education Board. The students’s enrollment rate in technical education has been upgraded around double in the last five years. At present, the rate is 14 percent,” he added.
Some 45 teachers and trainers of technical training institutes are taking part in the training at the Directorate of Technical Education office here.
