Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has said journalists, writers, singers and businessmen have all become vaccine traders.
“Everyone is now a vaccine dealer. Everyone is coming to sell to us (vaccine),” the Foreign Minister made the comment while talking to reporters at his office in Dhaka on Tuesday.
Momen said, “I am telling a funny story. Many people in America have told us that some people can offer vaccinate a lot. The most interesting thing is that those American people have told us that they have gotten dealership of Russian vaccine but the Russian government has told us that they have no dealer.”
“Vaccine is a funny thing! Now journalists, writers, singers, businessmen are all vaccine traders.”
Asked when the vaccine would be available, he said, “We will get the good news about vaccine but I cannot say when.”
“They (rich countries) assure us just saying, ‘you don’t worry’, but nobody gives us vaccines. In some cases, they want to know whether we (Bangladesh) will support them on a particular issue (various elections in global forums). That shouldn’t be tagged with Covid vaccination. It should be independent,” the Foreign Minister.
